“This book, Out of the Ashes, is aptly titled.

It is a book that documents the deep anguish and pain of incest and other childhood abuse, followed by perseverance, courage, and determination to overcome and to heal. It is also a story of a treatment gone wrong, documenting how a misunderstanding of the symptoms of PTSD on the part of a medical health provider led to misdiagnosis and years of overmedication and physical and psychological suffering for the author and her family. This is a story that unfortunately is all too common for women survivors and this first person account documents its terrible consequences. Nancy Strout writes about how she persevered in de-toxing from her medications and using other methods to manage her symptoms

and return to health.

Brava!”
